Setting Up a Deck

Check out our video and step by step instructions below.

Step by Step:

Unpack all decking and legs. This is also a good time to arrange your deck panels to the product specifications or to your own personal design specifications.

Insert your legs into the decking (at this point you can adjust the height of each leg by hand, OR you can see further instructions below).  Each leg has 4 prongs in it. These prongs are used to support the decks. The prongs insert into holes under the decking panels. In the corners where you are NOT adding any more decking you will want to put all 4 prongs into the deck. In the corners where you are adding more decking, you will want to only insert 1-2 prongs into each deck as pictured below. In the picture below we are adding another deck to the top, so we have left 2 prongs available for the additional deck.

Below you can see that this leg only has one prong inserted into a deck while the other three prongs are still exposed. These other 3 prongs are used to support the additional 3 deck panels shown in this picture. At this point in the process, we are working on the center of the decking.

Continue to add legs and decking until your deck is complete

The legs: The leg height can be adjusted by hand as you work around on your deck. You may also choose to wait until the deck is fully setup and adjust the legs by hand OR by using a ratchet and a half inch extension bar.. All decks have holes in the top of them that line up with the holes in the legs. Each leg has a hole in the top of it for a half inch extension bar so that you can easily adjust the leg height after your deck is setup. Below is a picture of a leg fully retracted.

Below is a leg partially extended.

Here is a picture of a rachet with a half inch extension in the hole at the top of a leg. Once the deck panels are in place you can insert the half inch extension through the hole at the top of the panels which lines up with the hole in the leg. You can then adjust the legs up or down in order to level out or raise your deck.

Here is a picture of the top of a deck. You can see the hole in the top of the deck lines up with the hole in the leg.

Here you can see a ratchet with a half inch extension inserted into the hole in the top of the deck and the leg. This is an easier way to adjust the deck and make it level on uneven surfaces or to raise the overall deck height.
